Proposed changes to the rules governing federal grant-making (including NIH, NSF, and all other federal agencies that give grants) would affect all stages of federal grants, from submission and peer review through to dissemination of research findings. Alarming elements of the rule include prohibition on international collaboration and anything deemed “DEI” or “disparate impact” research, and permitting active grants to be terminated at any time due to changed agency priorities.
Public comment on these changes is a highly impactful way for faculty to intervene. Anyone can comment (anonymously or with your name), and the government must read and consider all comments (from faculty, students, patients, etc).
Join a virtual workshop co-hosted by UCSFFA and CUCFA where we will review OMB’s Proposed Federal Financial Assistance Rule (OMB-2026-0034) and the numerous dire consequences it will have for federal grants in all fields.
We will walk through recommendations for making a comment, and create and submit our own comments.
